Harmony in Diversity

This picture is still part of Hotel Elizabeth's landscape.

I have always admired landscape artists...how they combine different sorts of plants, pots, rocks and logs together and create an appealing environment. They can blend the beauty of numerous plants accordingly to make one statement without loosing the individual radiance of each plant.

Landscaped Garden

These plants are like people. Each one us have our own unique being. Just imagine what a landscape we can create, if we blend all our talents together...

Seizing the Moment 2

Just a few of the rewards I got from seizing the Baguio sunset. The building below is part of Hotel Elizabeth.
Was trying to combine the effect of the lamp glow and the golden background

Afternoon Glow

This one, on the other hand, is another experiment in taking silhouette shots

Photobucket

What I found out is that, there is a need for firmer hands. Because of the subdued lighting, the shutter stays open longer using the normal aperture value setting at ISO-200. Otherwise, the resulting pictures will be blurred. It would have been better if I used a tripod.

Seizing the Moment

During our conference in Baguio City, we stayed at Hotel Elizabeth. It is a very cozy hotel with very good landscaped gardens. During one late afternoon, while we were resting in our room, I saw the beautiful sunset. Reacting on impulse, I grabbed my camera and literally jumped out of our window to take some snap shots.

Afternoon Garden
Luckily, our room was at the ground floor and the windows were as big as the door. My room mates were all caught in surprise, but I just had to seize the moment.

Oftentimes, opportunity comes across our path after a blind curve in our one-way road called "life", and those who approach it expecting and ready... usually reap the best rewards.

Kennon Road: Twist and Turn

Last week I attended a company conference in Baguio City. It was a 250KM drive North of Manila, ascending some 5100ft above sea-level. On the way up, we took Kennon Road. One of the three major connections to the city. It was the shortest, but also the steepest and most winding. Since it was already dark when we started our climb, we could only feel our shoulders swaying from left to right at each turn we made.
After the conference, we took the same route again on the way down. This time we stopped by to see the view.

Photobucket

Kennon Road was built in the 1903. Named after Col. Lyman W. Kennon, the one who supervised its completion. It took great perseverance for the builders, mostly Filipinos, Americans and Japanese to finish the enormous task.
Life's challenges are also full of twists and turns. Sometimes,we have to take long uphill climbs or even sharp descent. But it is only through perseverance that we can finish the course. We can not give up.
The good thing about it, is that, once you've done it you can look back and enjoy the view.

A Day in a Life of a Photo Blogger

For a photo blogger, nothing completes their day than to have a photo op excursion. For them it unlocks thousands of composition possibilities starting from the time they sit on the car and will last through the whole duration of the trip (or until their camera battery runs dry..lol!)
They love early morning or late afternoon day outs. During these times, the sun's rays are not too bright, giving the pictures a subtle dramatic effect.
What amazes me is when they go and look for that subject for a macro shot. I have always wanted to learn how they focus their lenses using macro.

>Maiylah's snippets

I appreciated the time Maiylah shared with us during that day out and showed me some pointers in framing and capturing scenic pictures. What a day it was...

Homeward Bound

Still during our bird watching outing. Saw this pair of birds breezing through the sky before dark. They looked so relaxed yet eager to get to their destination.

Homeward bpund

No matter where we go, somehow the homeward bound trip is always more delightful. Especially when you are traveling with a companion.

Family Outing

It was the last day of summer vacation for my son Gelo. Then since my work assignment would limit our future outings, the whole family decided to do some bird watching together with his cousins in the nearby watershed.

Photobucket

Too bad we did not get to reach the actual site due to on going road repairs, but we still had quite some fun along the road. Using the binoculars, Gelo hunted for birds flying across the field, while the rest of us spread out for the photo op & did sky watching until dusk.

We might have missed the birds, but we sure did capture the moment.

The Power of Our Inner Glow

Jaymes was already discharged yesterday. ECL said he was diagnosed to have had functional abdominal pain with antral gastritis. It was a great relief.

Thank you for all that shared a prayer for Jaymes' quick recovery. Its a demonstration of how powerful our concerted efforts can be, no matter how diversified we are.

The radiance of our individual glow can create a soothing and harmonious impact...and it is in knowing that we made someone feel better, where we get the greatest reward. All thanks to you... and you... and of course, to you.

Lets share a little Prayer

Hi! Thank you for dropping by my site today. I would appreciate it even better if you could join me in giving a little prayer for eastcoastlife's son, Jaymes.

Praying Hands

He has been suffering from acute abdominal pains for weeks now and the team of doctors treating him is still uncertain of its cause. It is our hope, praying in faith, that Jayme's be healed.

Thank you for your time.

Dona Nobis Pacem

Today I join the multitude striving for peace around the world. Instead of just hearing the desire for world peace from beauty pageant contestants, here's a way where we can make a contribution.

DNP400

Last May 27, I was tagged by Maiylah regarding a blog blast for the Peace Globe Post more commonly known as Dona Nobis Pacem. We joined a growing link of bloggers around the world, committed to make a difference for global peace. Together we increase the awareness one link at a time.

Nowadays, the news of fighting and wars is a common head line story. Then lately, global pressures on food crisis has troubled a lot of Asian countries. Then the horrors of Myanmar & China shocked us all. Its as if, the world is nearing its end.

But then again, it is written: "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not be troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." (Mat 24:6 KJV)

For sure we will encounter troubled times. It will be difficult, no doubt. Fighting for the basic living necessity will drive many towards violence. But if we continuously do our effort in believing and living in peace, with faith, we shall all be victorious.

MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU MY FRIEND.

Wordless Wednesday: Bring it on!

Cutting Through

My colleagues at work and I had a team building activity in Subic. We took the newly opened express way going there and the sceneries were just magnificent.

SubicClarkTarlacExpressWay(SCTEX)

They named it Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Express Way (SCTEX). Its a 94KM super highway that connect Subic Bay in Zambales to the free port zone in Clark, Pampanga and all the way to Tarlac. What used to be a 2 hour drive from Clark to Subic, has been reduced to a mere 45 minutes drive.

To do that, the engineers of SCTEX had to cut through mountains. Its the same with facing life's challenges. Sometimes, the best way is to meet it head strong...knowing that once over the mountain, it will all be downhill from there.
